Anthony J. “Tony” Zukaitis, age 71, of Fredonia, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Cedarburg Health Services where he was receiving rehabilitation services after a series of health issues.

He was born on December 6, 1951 in Port Washington, Wisconsin to Anthony P. and Mary Zukaitis (nee Andrukaitis). He attended St Mary Catholic School, graduating from Port Washington High School with the class of 1970.

Shortly thereafter, Tony served in the Army, mainly stationed in Germany, as a Military Police Officer, achieved the rank of Specialist 4. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

On October 16, 1976, Tony married Donna Mae Rosso of Port Washington, WI at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington.  They would later move to Fredonia where they raised their two children.


Tony worked for Watersoft Inc. as a delivery driver and installer of water systems.  He later drove truck for Cedarburg Lumber for many years until his retirement in 2007.

Family time, especially camping and four-wheeling, brought great joy. He enjoyed time spent outdoors, hunting with family and friends, having a good laugh and was known for telling a good story.  Over the years, he created woodworking projects; making furniture, trunks and other household items for family and friends. He also built a playhouse in his backyard for his daughter and was looking forward to his granddaughter enjoying it in the years to come. Tony was a Cub Scout Leader for several years, leading his son & friends on great learning experiences.  He was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association and the Warren-Kane American Legion Post 410 of Fredonia. 

He is survived by his wife Donna, his children Megan (Chris Crivello) Zukaitis of Plentywood, MT and Jason Zukaitis of Gillette, WY; granddaughter Echo, his brother George (Vicki) Zukaitis of Port Washington, mother-in-law Mildred (the late Herbert) Rosso of Port Washington, brother-in-law Dale (Anne) Rosso of Random Lake, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends and his constant companion, his dog Holly.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Father-in-law, his nephew Dustin Brede, and his brothers-in-law David, Daniel and Larry Rosso.

Funeral services for Tony will be held at 6 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia, WI.  Visitation will take place from 4-5:45PM Tuesday at the church prior to services.  Military honors will take place after church services with fellowship to follow.

  4. So very sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. I knew him in high school as I was dating a classmate/friend of his. I have many fond memories of those years which included Tony in many of them. We are all aging now and the loss of friends is hitting us all hard. RIP Tony. Fly free.
