WolfAgnesMAgnes M. Wolf, 87, of Chestnut Street in Port Washington died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Harbor Club in Port Washington.

She was born June 4, 1922 in Glidden, Wisconsin to Bernard and Laura Wolf Bares.  She graduated from St. Mary’s School in Port Washington.  She worked as a clerk for the Smart Shop for 25 years.  On April 5, 1943 she married Charles William “Junior” Wolf of Port Washington in Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.  He preceded her in death November 1, 2007.

Agnes was a faith-filled and giving woman, sharing her time and talents with many people with what seemed like limitless energy.  She was a long-standing member of St. Mary’s Parish and served her church in numerous ways through the years.  She was a Eucharistic Minister and took Holy Communion to the residents of Harbor Club and Heritage Nursing Home for many years.  Agnes was a substitute teacher at St. Mary’s school under Monsignor Hildebrand and a member of St. Mary’s Christian Women.  She volunteered to lead numerous rosary services and help with many parish luncheons and dinners.  Agnes was involved in many aspects of the parish operation, everything from contribution steward to laundering alter linen.  She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active in Scouting when her children were younger.  She enjoyed her weekly card clubs and daily walks to church.  Agnes took pride in hosting Sunday dinner for her family each week for nearly 60 years and happy that she shared her birth date with her daughter.

She is survived by her children Charles G. (Jan) Wolf of Greendale, Wisconsin and Rosanne (Dick) Plier of Port Washington.  Further survived by grandchildren Rich (Kristy) Plier, Randy (Fiance Becky Gasser) Plier, Kristin (Karl Stark) Wolf and Cheryl (Kevin) Barry, great grandchildren Michael, Evan and Will, other relatives and friends.  Preceded by her husband and sisters, Ellen Reiter, Dorothy Moths, Cecelia Bernitt and 2 infant sisters.

Rev. Patrick Wendt will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial 7 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 430 N. Johnson Street, Port Washington.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation 4 – 7 pm Wednesday AT CHRUCH with a rosary at 4 pm.  Memorials to St. Mary’s Church appreciated.
