Dean “Dino” Roemhild, of Port Washington, WI passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at the age of 73 years.

Dean was born in Milwaukee, WI in 1947 to William Roemhild and Louise Diego Plevak. He graduated Riverside High School, married his high school sweetheart, Dawn Montgomery, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966.  Dean served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968 and continued with the Army Reserves until 1973. After serving in the Army, he worked for Wisconsin Electric at the Port Washington power plant for 35 years.

Dean was a member of the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 in Port Washington, WI for 51 continuous years and a proud union member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 317 and Wisconsin Electric Employee Mutual Benefit Association (EMBA). Dean enjoyed listening to music and spending time with friends in various local taverns. Before glaucoma stole his vision, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, and doing the daily crossword puzzle. He will be remembered by his quick wit, and knack for trivia.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Dawn, daughters Andrea (Bill) Selbig and Lacey Roemhild, grandchildren Cameron, Natalie, and Landan, sister Merry Sobecki, brother Tony (Laurin) Plevak, sisters-in-law Diana (Bob) Rowland, Victoria Montgomery, and Edna Kelly, as well as, numerous relatives and friends.

Dean was predeceased by his parents, stepfather Frank Plevak, sisters Joanne Hunkel and Annie Buriss, and brother-in-law Jim Montgomery.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 4-6pm on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the POOLE FUNERAL HOME, 203 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI. Military honors will take place at 6 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice (www.ssrhospicehome.org/) or the Glaucoma Research Foundation (www.getinvolved.glaucoma.org).

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their exemplary care and compassion.
