Eugene R. Penkwitz, age 85, of Port Washington, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford, Wisconsin.

He was born on May 9, 1937; Mother’s Day and his Mother’s birthday, to Clarence and Esther Witte Penkwitz.

Eugene spent his entire life in Port Washington; attending St. Mary’s School and Port Washington High School, graduating in 1955.

He worked at the former Federspiel Hardware before spending 1959-1961 in the Army. Returning to Port Washington, Eugene went to work for PCM, Kwik Mix and then Simplicity Manufacturing until his retirement in 2002.

On December 1, 1962, Eugene married Fern Bossler at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington. They shared 58 wonderful years together until Fern’s passing in March, 2021.

Eugene had a soft heart and a kind soul. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir at St. John XXIII Catholic Church.

He is survived by his children Randy (Missy) Penkwitz of Hudson, Rick Penkwitz of Oshkosh (Heather W.), Terry (Lori) Penkwitz of Reedsburg and Tracy (Ray) Hartmann of Fredonia; his grandchildren Riley, Reena, Logan, Anna and Jenna Penkwitz and Alicia and Kayla Hartmann.

He is further survived by his brother Clarence (Carol) Penkwitz of Port Washington, sisters Arleen (Ken) Weiland of Belgium and Elaine (Jim) Bahr of Bonduel, sister-in-law Kathy Bossler and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eugene is preceded in death by his wife Fern, his parents and his brother-in-law Kehlor Bossler.

Visitation will take place from 1-3PM Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. John XXIII Parish-St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1802 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI, followed by Mass at 3PM. Reverend Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington with a reception after the interment in the church hall.
