Video of Funeral Mass for Suzi Kleckner

Mrs. Suzanne “Suzi” Kleckner, age 66, of Port Washington, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side, on Saturday, September 4, 2021.  Suzi battled courageously for nearly two years against cancer.

Suzanne Mary (Lanser) Kleckner was born on February 1, 1955, in Port Washington, WI to Gregory and Anna (Becker) Lanser and grew up on Woodruff Street in the shadow of St. Mary’s Church.  Suzi attended St. Mary’s School and Port Washington High School, where she graduated in the Class of 1973.

On February 5, 1977, Suzi married David J. Kleckner of Port Washington at St. Mary’s Church.

For over 30 years, Suzi held multiple roles at the former Smith Bros. Restaurant in Port Washington until it closed.  She then went on to work at Dockside Deli until her retirement in 2019.  Suzi loved connecting with the community through her work in the restaurant business.

Suzi and Dave have been members of St. Peter of Alcantara Church (now St. John XXIII) of Port Washington for many years and raised their family down the street from that very location.

Above all, Suzi was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Her love and dedication to her family was selfless and unconditional.  She always put her family and their needs above her own.  Suzi had a contagious smile and was happiest in the kitchen where she could be preparing food for her family and friends.  She also enjoyed doing various crafts, especially counted cross-stitch afghans.

Suzi is survived by her loving husband, David; children Julie (Benjamin) Gerds of Oconomowoc, WI and Kurt (Jennifer) Kleckner of Northbook, IL; grandchildren Tyler and Calvin Gerds and Sophie, Norah and Ethan Kleckner; siblings Daniel (Cheryl) Lanser, Christine (Keith) Rismeyer, Joel (Peggy) Lanser, Gerard Lanser (Elkim Beck), all of Port Washington, Margaret Jacobson of Three Lakes, WI, Therese (Dan) Dallgas of Saukville and James Lanser of Minneapolis, MN.  Suzi is further survived by her mother-in-law Aileen Wiltgen of Port Washington, brother-in-law Donald (Kathy) Kleckner of Watertown, WI, sister-in-law Caroline (Neal) Buser of Saukville, nine nieces and five nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Suzi is preceded in death by her father, Greg Lanser in 1996, her mother, Anna Lanser in 2020, infant sister RoseAnn, father-in-law Arnold Kleckner and brother-in-law Tom “Jake” Jacobson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at St. John XXIII Parish – St. Mary’s Church, 551 Johnson Street in Port Washington, WI.  Reverend Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant.  Visitation will take place from 11am until 12:45pm at the church prior to Mass on Saturday.  Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington, WI.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society appreciated.

Ozaukee County Public Health Department recommends all guests wear masks to the services.
