Michael “Mike” Leigh Hrdlicka, 60, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on September 29, 1961 in Fort Belvoir, VA.
Although a resident of New Port Richey, FL, he felt Wisconsin, and Port Washington especially, was home and where he’ll be laid to rest.
Mike served in the US Air Force where he was a Staff Sargent, and then worked for many years at the USPS in Belleville, IL. He retired to southwest Florida where he spent many years soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm winters.
Family was most important to Mike, he enjoyed spending summers up at the cottage on Upper Gresham Lake in Wisconsin, camping and boating at Carlyle Lake, and playing many sports including golf, softball and bowling. He was also a huge Green Bay Packer fan, passing his love for the team onto the next generations. He was famous for his French toast and beer brats, which can never be matched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Mary Lou (nee Soeffgen) Hrdlicka.
Surviving are his wife, Heidi (nee Maggio) Hrdlicka, whom he married on December 24, 2020; two children, Robert Hrdlicka of O’Fallon, IL and Ashley (Dan) McNutt of Treasure Island, FL; his former wife, lifelong friend, and mother of his two children, Lisa Barttelbort; three bonus children Ashley Simon, Victoria Simon, and Lucien Labat; four grandchildren, Michael and Isabelle Hrdlicka, Ryan and Connor McNutt; two bonus-grandchildren, Madison Hermes and Cora Roberts; his sister, Theresa (Dale) Wisinski of Port Washington, WI; brother Lawrence (Dan) Hrdlicka-Wustrack of Milwaukee, WI; bonus-sister Cristina Schultheis; his loving nieces and nephews; and his adoring canine companion, Lucy.
Private family services have been held. Mike was put to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington, WI near his mother and father whom he has finally been reunited with in heaven.
So sorry of the loss of such a good man. My sympathies to Mikes family.
