Video of Funeral Mass for Lucy Hensel

Lucy Hensel, 96 years old, of Port Washington, Wisconsin died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wisconsin.

She was born December 3, 1924 in Port Washington, Wisconsin to John and Mary Gasär Gasser.  Raised in Port Washington she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Port Washington High School.  She met Frank Hensel and they were married at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington on September 25, 1948.

Lucy and Frank would go to Schmit’s Pavilion in Grafton, Wisconsin to roller skate and dance. They enjoyed spending time skiing, whether it be on the water, downhill or cross country.  Lucy and Frank spent many a day at their northwoods retreat on Castle Rock Lake in Mauston, Wisconsin.  Frank preceded her in death September 10, 2006.

She worked as a clerk at the Port Washington Ben Franklin and enjoyed doing the window displays until they closed.  A member of St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington, she belonged to the Christian Mothers and was active with the Girl Scouts when her daughter was younger.  Lucy enjoyed gardening and liked to decorate with flowers whenever she could.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her world and brought her much joy.

Lucy is survived by her daughter Kriss (Ken) Streblow, grandchildren Kelly (Jeff) Sisson and Kurt (fiancé Ashlynn) Streblow and great-grandchildren Callie, Kennedy, Chase, Kash, Bailey and Jamon.  She is further survived by her brothers Joe (Jean) Gasser and Ray Gasser.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

The Reverend Patrick Wendt will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial 1 PM Thursday, June 10, 2021 at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 451 N. Johnson Street, Port Washington.  Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.  Visitation 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday, June 10, 2021 AT CHURCH prior to mass.

  1. So sorry to hear of the loss of Lucy, we got to know her from the Lake she was truly a wonderful lady and very enjoyable to be around. Our hearts and prayers to the family during this time.

  2. We are truly shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Lucy’s passing but so thankful we were able to visit with her Memorial weekend. She was a very special lady who was loved by so many and the loss of her beautiful face, sunny smile, and sense of humor will definitely be felt among her lake family. May the grief be short and sweet and the love filled memories endless. Until we meet again Lucy!
