Betty Jane Ewig, 93, of Port Washington, WI passed away amongst her family November 27, 2019 at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington, WI.

She was born September 1, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI to Leroy and Anita Beatty Allen. On May 20, 1950 she married Robert “Bob” Ewig at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington, WI. They lived in Arkansas and Indiana briefly for Bob’s work before returning to Port Washington, WI and settling into their home on North Holden Street in the 1960’s. In 1988 after Bob retired they downsized to Woodview Circle. Her husband Bob preceded her in death August 1, 2008 and more recently she resided at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington.

She was a good cook and baker and enjoyed sewing, making dresses for her daughters and their Barbie dolls when they were younger. She also enjoyed reading and geneology. Over the years she enjoyed traveling with her husband and could be seen walking with him throughout Port Washington.

A thoughtful and considerate woman, she had a quick wit and great sense of humor. Betty Jane kept up correspondence with family and friends and enjoyed being the hostess for celebrations and parties. Heaven just got a funny angel.

Betty Jane is survived by her children David (Bonnie) Ewig of Random Lake, WI, Nadine (Tony) Katchever of Port Washington, WI, Scott (Liz) Ewig of Port Washington, WI, Rachel (Tom) Gahan of Campbellsport, WI, Christine (Warren) Baier of Horicon, WI and Daniel (Marie-Anne) Ewig of New York City, NY. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister Nancy (Curtis) Scheunemann of the town of Fredonia, WI, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, her brother Leland “Jim” and his wife Helen Allen and sister-in-law Marion and her husband Jerry Norman.

Funeral services will be held 7PM Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at First Congregational Church, 131 N. Webster St., Port Washington. The Reverend Don Niederfrank and Jim McKenzie will officiate. Interment will take place at the Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will be 4-7PM Tuesday AT CHURCH.

  3. Our sympathy on the loss of your dear mom! Tony and I were very blessed to know your mom and dad and kept in touch through Christmas letters until a few years ago when her eyesight failed! Such a sweet and kind lady and wonderful neighbor to us many years ago. Rest In Peace dear Betty😘
