Deanna C. Champeau, 71, of West Dekora St., Saukville died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
She was born on July 6, 1940 in Milwaukee, daughter of Norbert and Joyce Reese Bootz. She was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Pius XI High School. On May 21, 1960 she married Thomas Champeau of Sturgeon Bay at Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Shortly after, they moved to Port Washington and raised their family on Fairvew Drive. “The best mom ever” was an active part of the neighborhood. Teaching CCD, the Girl Scout cookie mom or just enjoying the company of her children and friends. Kool-aid and popcorn stands, always an open door and a smile will be remembered.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and especially crocheting blankets and lap-robes for family and friends. She enjoyed sharing on the phone and was a great listener. Over the years, she and her husband wintered in Nevada and moved to Saukville full-time on 2003.
She is survived by her husband Tom, children Scott (Tracy) Champeau of Westford, MA, daughters Renee Champeau of Milwaukee and Michele Krueger of Port Washington, six grandchildren Dylan, Paige, Hunter, Tucker, Caitlyn and Jonathan, two sisters Pat (Al) Richson of Ocala, FL and Phyllis (the late Al) Knutson of Milwaukee, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30PM Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington. Reverend Thomas Lijewski will be the celebrant. Visitation from 11:30AM-1:30PM Saturday AT CHURCH. Final interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Sturgeon Bay, WI. Memorials to the Port Washington Food Pantry, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington appreciated.
