Daniel “Danny” Bares, Age 70, died peacefully at his Port Washington, WI residence on Sunday, September 4, 2022.

Danny moved out west to Washington State in 1973 and began working with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. He helped build State Parks, fought forest fires and planted trees throughout the state. He enjoyed his work and the crew he worked with. He retired after 37 years as a Forest Crew Supervisor.

After his retirement, Danny moved back to the family farm in Wisconsin to be close to his sister and best friend Linda. He enjoyed sports and enjoyed listening to the games, be it basketball, baseball or football.

He is survived by his son Jesse (Sandra) Bares of Tacoma, WA and grandsons Robert and Nicholas. Further survived by his brother David (Linda) Bares of Hubertus, WI and sisters Diana (Larry) Verheyen and Linda Cooper, both of Port Washington, WI; nieces and nephews Kristen, Heather, Mark, Jennifer, Kurtis, Matthew, Tracy and Shannon; his best friend Allon Bostwick, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Danny’s life will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 2-4 PM at the Poole Funeral Home, 203 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, WI.

  2. For Danny’s family, Diane and Linda – We will miss Danny, and will remember him at our 52nd class reunion on Saturday, 24, 2022. I’m sure there will be many “toasts” and memories shared. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
