Marcella S. Wittkopp, 82, formerly of Woodland Avenue, Port Washington died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Ozaukee in Mequon. She currently resided at the Harbor Club in Port Washington.
She was born in Lake Church, Town of Belgium, WI on June 3, 1921, daughter of Joseph M. and Mary M. “Lena” Johann Ansay. On June 30, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lake Church she married Donald V. Wittkopp of Port Washington. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2001.
Over the years she had worked as a seamstress at the former Badger Outerwear Company, Port Washington. At the same time she helped her husband at their tavern, the former Don’s Tap, on Grand Ave. and raised her family. She also had been a nurses aide, caring for others in their home, as well as, her parents and husband when they were ill. Always the caregiver, she took great pride in making birthdays and holidays special for all. She was active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church and their Christian Women and the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 Auxiliary. She had enjoyed golf and playing bridge with her lady friends.
She is survived by her children, Susan Depies of Slinger and Keith (Kathleen) Wittkopp of Waterford, WI; sisters Dolores (Henry) Kowalski of Belgium, Mary (Dick) Neerhof of Port Washington, Pearl (Robert) Houston of Tomahawk, WI, Loretta (the late James) Croatt of Port Washington, her brothers Harvey (Elaine) Ansay of Beaver Dam and Donald (Eleanor) Ansay of Belgium. She is further survived by grandchildren Sally, Sheryl, David, Julie and Elizabeth; great grandchildren Alicia and Reily, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services 7 PM Thursday at the Poole Funeral Home, 203 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington. The Rev. Allan Sommer officiating. Interment Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation 4 – 7 PM Thursday with a 4 PM rosary. Memorials to St. Mary’s Church Organ Fund Appreciated.
