Eleanore G. “Ellie” Werner, age 98, formerly of Wausaukee, WI passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at her Harbor Club residence in Port Washington, WI.
She was born on December 10, 1921 in Chicago, IL; daughter of Arthur F. and Madora M. Last Thielke. As a young woman, Ellie lived in New York City. There have been stories that for a time, she had driven a taxi there. During that time she also gained her pilots license. She was quite an independent woman.
Ellie lived in Grafton, WI for a while before marrying Robert Grady of Saukville. They lived for many years on North Mill Street. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1975.
On June 10, 1978, Ellie married William “Bill” Werner of Saukville at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Saukville. They would live on Linden Street for few years and then move to Wausaukee, WI in 1980.
For many years, Ellie did payroll for Power Products in Grafton. She also drove local school bus. She was active with St. Peter United Church of Christ in Saukville and Landt-Thiel American Legion Post 470 and it’s Auxiliary in Saukville. In Wausaukee, she was a member at United Presbyterian Church in Amberg, WI.
In 2014, Ellie and Bill returned to the area at the Harbor Village in Port Washington. Bill preceded her in death on May 29, 2015.
Ellie was an avid reader, working crossword puzzles and enjoyed making crafts for family and friends such as needlepoint. She and Bill traveled quite a bit.
Ellie is survived by Bill’s children Bill (Diane) Werner of Sheboygan, Virginia (John “Buzzy”) Donner of Dousman, Roy (Rita) Werner of Plymouth, Jeannette “Net” (Mike Martin) Mueller of Saukville, Vicki (Robert) Kertscher of Franklin and Tim (Cathy) Werner of Saukville, 16 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-great and great-great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Kenneth Thielke of Kentucky, sister-in-law Martha (Vincent) Baye of Amberg, step-daughter-in-law Sue (Raul) Gutierrez, nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by husband Robert Grady and William Werner and step-sons Richard “Dickie” and Scott “Pots” Werner.
Funeral services at a future date will be planned. Interment will take place at Amberg Cemetery in Amberg, WI.
