Emily “Perchy” Scheck, 97, of High Cliff Park in Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Wauwatosa, died January 8, 2009 at Dorchester Golden Living in Sturgeon Bay.
She was born July 2, 1911 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Frank and Apola Stuck Orth. She helped her mother operate a beauty shop in Milwaukee before her marriage. On June 2 1935 she married Elmore “Tom” Scheck at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
They moved to Wauwatosa and spent summers at Lake Nagawica, Wisconsin. Upon her husband’s retirement in the 1960’s they moved to Sturgeon Bay, where they had a cottage. They called her “Perchy” because she loved to fish and taught the neighbor kids to fish. She also had a wonderful flower and vegetable garden and enjoyed bird watching and spending time in Florida. Elmore preceded her in death March 30, 1979.
Perchy is survived by her son Dennis (Marybeth) Scheck of Sturgeon Bay, grandchildren Sue (Brian) Bach of Port Washington, WI and Tom (Kelley) Scheck of Cedar Grove, WI. Further survived by great grandchildren Michael (fiance Nicki Nemoir) Bach, Krystal Bach and Kayla Scheck, a niece, 2 nephews, other relatives and friends.
