Alice L. Roelse, of Harbor Village in Port Washington died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, Ozaukee Campus in Mequon.

She was born March 9, 1920 in Port Washington to Peter and Anastasia “Anna” Dahm Roelse.  She lived at 231 W. Dodge Street in Port Washington from 1936 to 2007 when she moved to the Harbor Village.  She devoted her life to helping others in the healthcare field as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Arnold Barr at his N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington Office and Dr. Charles Kauth for 30 years.  Later she worked for Dr. Robert Pfeffer at his W. Grand Avenue office for 8 years until 1987.

She was a member of the WIsconsin State Medical Assistant Society and the Port Washington Senior Center.  For many years she volunteered at the Harbor Club.  Alice could be found tending her flowers and bushes when the weather permited, making her corner of the world a more beautiful place.

Alice is survived by her sister Laura Walsh of Port Washington, Niece Elaine McCarthy of Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin, nephew Clyde “Butch” (Barbara Parks) Penkwitz of Peru, Indiana, grand nephew William McCarthy of Milwaukee, close friend Robert Barr, the son of Dr. Arnold Barr, of Sheboygan, other relatives and friends.  Preceded by her parents, sister Viola Miller, infant sister Loretta, niece Arlene  Moore (nee Penkwitz) and nephew-in-law John Moore.

Rev. Tom Lijewski will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial 2 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at St. Mary’s Church, 430 N Johnson Street, Port Washington.  Interment parish cemetery.  Visitation Noon – 2 pm Wednesday AT CHURCH with a Noon Rosary.  Memorials to St. Mary’s Church, Port Washington appreciated.
