Elvira J. Port, age 101 years, formerly of Hales Trail, Port Washington, WI died Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the Harbor Club in Port Washington, WI.
She was born in Lake Church, Town of Belgium, WI on March 6, 1919 to Henry and Rose Pierron Flerchinger. Growing up on the family farm in Lake Church, she attended local schools and graduated from Port Washington High School. She worked at Allen Edmonds Shoe Mfg in Lake Church before her marriage.
Elvira married John J. Port of Port Washington, WI on January 3, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church, WI. They built a home on Hales Trail in Port Washington, WI and raised their three daughters. She worked as a clerk for the former Lueptows Furniture Store in Port Washington for many years. Her husband John preceded her in death October 22, 2001.
She was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Christian Mothers and Lady Foresters. Elvira volunteered throughout the community including at the former St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, going to dances, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Elvira is survived by her daughters Mary Sue (Gary) Bolz of the Town of Port Washington, WI, Jane (Scott) Greener of Marion, IA and Patti (Steve) Steidtmann of the Town of Port Washington, WI. She is further survived by her grandchildren Brian (fiance Heather) Bolz, Michelle (Kyle) Clavette and Chelsea Greener, great-grandchildren Madelayne, Ellaoise, Audric and Grace, sister-in-law Carol Flerchinger, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband John, and Brothers Harvey and his wife Loretta Flerchinger and Lyle Flerchinger.
Family Mass has been held at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Port Washington, WI. Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington, WI.
