Marion G. Norman, age 92, formerly of Tower Drive and Thomas Circle, Port Washington, WI passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2017 with family at her side.

She was born on April 14, 1924; daughter of Herbert “Hap” and Gertrude Biever Ewig in Port Washington, WI.  She was the daughter of a Lake Michigan commercial fishing family – the Ewig Bros. She attended St. Mary’s parochial school and graduated from Port Washington High School, class of 1943.  She married Jerome “Jerry” Norman at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington on April 24, 1946 after he returned from the war.  Together they started their family.  Jerry operated Gantner-Norman Insurance in Port Washington for many years. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2003.

Marion enjoyed her role of grandma and great-grandma.  She was always on the move; playing Bridge, shopping with family and friends; enjoying the company of others.  She had been a member of the Port Washington Woman’s Club and St. Mary’s Parish Christian Women for many years.

She is survived by her children Georgine Norman of Alpharetta, GA, Jim (Susan) Norman of Portland, OR, Bob (Karen) Norman and Mary (Mike) Ratatori, both of Port Washington; grandchildren Brian (Amy) Norman, Erica (Adam) Silberman, Jessica Norman, Jennifer (Bryan Lam) Ratatori and Kristin (Thao Do) Ratatori, great-grandchildren Abbey, Ben and Delaney Norman, Akio, Kyan and Lucia Lam and Otis Do, sister-in-law Betty (the late Bob) Ewig of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12Noon Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. John XXIII Parish-St. Mary Church, 430 Johnson St., Port Washington.  Reverend Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant.  Family will receive friends from 10AM-Noon with a 10AM Rosary.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.  Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) appreciated.

  1. We are deeply sorrowed by the news of the passing of Marion. We shared the same April birthday and always looked forward to celebrating our birthday together every year. We will surely miss her, not only this April, but every day of the year. We will surely miss her sense of humor and her effervescent nature. We both loved her deeply.
