MetzCatherineCatherine L. Metz, 72, of E. Whitefish Road in Port Washington died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, Wisconsin.

She was born June 9, 1937 in Merton, Wisconsin to Leo and Bertilla Whelan Whipp.  She graduated from Hartford High School and worked as a receptionist for Nathan Grossmann, MD in Milwaukee.  On September 9, 1961 she married Frank M. Metz of Port Washington at St. John’s Church in Monches, Wisconsin.

After her marriage, Cathy was an active and busy homemaker raising her five children and was a great cook.  She had a creative eye and was artistic, making crafts, sewing and altering clothes for many.  She was a past member of the Port Washington Junior Womens Club and was active with St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church and their Christian Women and Friendship Club.  She also volunteered for the St. Ben’s Meal Program in Milwaukee and appreciated her Celtic heritage.

She is survived by husband, Frank Metz and children Michael (Susan) Metz of Platteville, Wisconsin, Karen (Mark) Levesque of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Steven (Darlene) Metz of the Town of Erin, Wisconsin, Janet (Trevor) Wheeler of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Peter (Natalie) Metz of Germantown, Wisconsin.  Further survived by grandchildren Noah, Emily, Bridget and Elizabeth “Ella”, sisters Mary Ann (the late James) Felix of the Town Of Erin, Wisconsin, Barbara Granzow of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, sister-in-law Marion (Gilbert) Gultch of Waterford, Wisconsin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Preceded by her parents, sister Eileen Kaminski and mother-in-law Marie Metz.

The Rev. Patrick Wendt will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial 7 pm Thursday, November  5, 2009 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington.  Visitation 4-6:45PM Thursday AT CHURCH.  Interment parish cemetery.  Memorials to the Pregnancy Help Center of Milwaukee or Port Catholic School appreciated.
