Mildred A. Jones, age 98, formerly of Weirton, WV, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Lasata Senior Living Campus in Cedarburg, WI where she had resided the past few years.
She was born on October 12, 1913, daughter of Andrew J. and Anna M. Volen Barbara, in Connellsville, PA. On June 2, 1933 she married Ernest Jones of Gloucester, England in Wellsburg, WV. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1981. In 1999, after living in Weirton for many years, she moved to Wisconsin to be near her son. She had been a resident of Port Washington’s Harbor Campus during her early years in Wisconsin. While living in Weirton, she was very active with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stuebenville, OH and the Order of Eastern Star. She volunteered at the Wierton General Hospital for many years. She will be remembered for her joy of bowling well in to her 80’s.
She is survived by her son Robert (Dolores) Jones of Mequon, WI; grandsons Brian Jones of Littleton, CO and Kevin (Mary) Jones of Mequon, her brother Thomas (Rose) Barbara of Weirton, WV, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, sisters Louise Heming, Victoria Barbara, Viola Bortz and Helen Bonar and her brother John Barbara.
Graveside services were held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Wierton, WV on May 31, 2012. Memorials to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 415 Adams Street, Steubenville, OH 43952 are appreciated.
