JentgesSylvesterSylvester A. Jentges, 79,  of W Jefferson Street in Port Washington died Tuesday March 3, 2009 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington from complications of a stroke he had years ago.

He was born December 13, 1929 in Port Washington to John and Catherine Van Treeck Jentges.  A life long resident he married Adeline Gutowski of Port Washington on May 30, 1964 at St. Mary’s Church.  He worked as a press operator at the Gehl Company in West Bend for 35 years, retiring in 1992.

Syl was a jack of all trades and handiman, enjoying tinkering in the garage.  Always keeping busy he did yard maintenance and snow removal for others after his retirement.  He was also an assistant custodian for Port Catholic School.  He enjoyed his vegetable garden and polka music.

He is survived by his wife Adeline and children Janice (Bruce) Doers of the Town of Port Washington, Joyce Jentges of Port Washington, Patrick (Colleen) Jentges of the Town of Fredonia and James (Angela) of Port Washington.  Further survived by 6 grandchildren, brother John (Nancy) Jentges, Jr., sisters-in-law Arlene Jentges of the Town of Port Washington and Sharon Gutowski of Port Washington, other relatives and many friends.  He is preceded in death by a sister, Marian Risch and two brothers Walter and Earl Jentges.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 pm Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church, Port Washington.  Interment parish cemetery.  Visitation 10 am – 12:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home with a rosary service at 10 am.  Memorials to St. Mary’s Parish appreciated.
