Gerald “Jerry” Hubbard, age 94, formerly of Portview Drive, Port Washington, WI passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Ellen’s Home of Port Washington.

He was born on September 27, 1925 in Stephenson, MI; son of Howard Hillman and Martha Rasmussen Hubbard.

Right out of high school, Jerry served his country.  From March, 1944 through March, 1946, Jerry served during World War 2 in the United States Marine Corps.  As a Private First Class, Jerry was an aviation mechanic during the consolidation of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Theatre.

Upon his discharge, Jerry studied at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.  On January 20, 1947 on a cold snowy day, Jerry married Betty Jane Chervenka of Milwaukee.  He made Port Washington his home with a job with Wisconsin Electric and their new coal burning power plant.  Over the 40 years working there, Jerry held many positions.  He retired in 1987.  Jerry is a long standing member of the EMBA and the International Association of Operating Engineers Local 317.

Jerry would become a pilot; owning and operating his own Cessna aircraft.  Out of the West Bend Airport, Jerry enjoyed the comradery and friendship of his fellow aviation enthusiasts.  He also was a member of the Aid Association for Lutherans and volunteered as the assistant cemetery sexton for the Port Washington Cemetery Association.

For over 20 years, Jerry also worked for the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, validating crops for federal farm programs.

He is a member of the Landt-Thiel American Legion Post 470 in Saukville and the Ozaukee Memorial Post 5373 Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Jerry was a proud participant of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in 2009.

His wife Betty Jane preceded him in death on November 11, 2006.

Jerry is survived by his daughters Jane (Rick) Fellenz of Port Washington and Ann (Carlos) Aranda of Lima, Peru; granddaughters Sarah (Bernardo) Silveira of Winter Park, FL, Rachel (Andrew) Lemanczyk of Hartford and Rebecca Fellenz of Port Washington; seven great-grandchildren Lauren, Madison, Evelyn, Elena, Annabel, Emmit and Chase; sisters-in-law Helen Hubbard of DePere, Marion Horvath of Stephenson and Nancy Chervenka of Neenah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded by his wife, his sisters Violet Hubbard and Ann and her husband Jim Nemitz, his brothers Hillman and his wife Doreen, Howard, Rueben and his wife Leota and Jesse Hubbard, brothers-law Jack Chervenka and Frank Horvath.

Funeral services will take place 1PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the River of Life Lutheran Church, 598 Hillcrest Road, Saukville, WI.  Visitation will take place from 11AM-12:45PM Thursday AT CHURCH prior to services.  Interment will take place at Union Cemetery in Port Washington with military honors.

  1. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
    It has been many years since we have seen “uncle Jerry”
    and I believe it was at my brothers (Charles Nemetz)
    funeral. Not many Hubbards are left any more.
