GoebelFloraFlora M. Goebel, 84, of the Harbor Club and formerly of Pierre Lane, Port Washington, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Ozaukee Campus in Mequon.

She was born April 22, 1921 to Jacob and Marie Jetzer Kirsch in New Holstein, Wisconsin.  As a young girl she was also raised by Joseph Hatzl. .  She married Anton Goebel of Uersfeld, Germany on December 2, 1939 at Holy Name Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  He built a house in Glendale, Wisconsin and in 1950 opened Goebel Wood Working in Port Washington.  Flora helped out with the business and raised their five children.  Anton preceded her in death December 17, 1975.

Flora was a past member of Holy Name Church in Sheboygan.  Currently she was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington and was a member of St. Mary’s Christian Women and sang in the choir.  She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Port Washington Senior Center and the Port Washington Garden Club.  She enjoyed travelling with family through Europe and staying at elderhostels.  Flora loved to garden, enjoyed cooking and baking, did embroidery and played cards, especially sheepshead.

She is survived by her children Robert (Linda) Goebel of Port Washington, Carol (Jim) Heule of West Bend, Kathy (Wally “putzer”) Quade of Fredonia, Glen Goebel of Glendale and LInda (Peter) Ryan of Cascade.  Further survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, dear friend Rosie Bach, other relatives and friends.  Preceded by her husband and two brothers Leander and Werner.

Funeral services 6:30 pm Thursday from the funeral home to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for Mass at 7 pm.  Entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.  Visitation 4 – 6:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home with a rosary at 4 pm.  Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society appreciated
