Andre J. Berres, 69, of N Lakeview Avenue, Port Washington died Sunday June 25, 2006 at her residence.

She was born June 25, 1936 in Marquette, Michigan to Andreas and Dorothy Gossen Buchko.  The family moved to Beloit, Wisconsin and she took at job with Schlitz Brewery in Milwaukee.  She lived in Milwaukee and Mequon for many years raising her family.  When she was 30 she received her nursing degree and worked as a LPN for Milwaukee Protestant Home and Hearthside Nursing Home in Milwaukee until she retired.  She was a bartender at the former Smith Bros. and a hostess in Milwaukee Restaurants.  in 1980 she moved to Theinsville and later to Brown Deer, returning to Port Washington in 2004.  Andre enjoyed gardening, bird watching, crafts and puzzles.  She was a voracious reader and valued working with the elderly and handicapped adults.

She is survived by daughters Amy Lorence of Port Washington, Wisconsin, Heidi Berres of Bayside, Wisconsin, Mary (Ben) Ralston of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and Heather (Steve) Brandt of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; grandchildren Allisha(Kyle) Watkins, Courtney and Tabitha Ralston, Sara and Ryan Lorence and Samantha and Nicole Brandt.  Further survived by brother Donald “Jake” (Nancy) Buchko and John (the late Paula) Buchko both of Beloit, Wisconsin, sister Nancy Mieseler of Bloomington, Minnesota, other relatives and friends.Preceded in death by her former husband Rufus Berres.

Pastor Karl Schimpf will officiate a memorial service 11 am Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the Northshore Congregational Church (7330 N Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point).  Memorials to the food pantry of choice are appreciated.
