Norbert J. Ansay, “Norbie”, age 84, formerly of the town of Port Washington, Wisconsin peacefully passed away with family by his side on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at his Belgium, Wisconsin residence.
He was born September 9, 1937 to Walter and Dorothy Rieth Ansay. Growing up on the family farm in the Town of Port Washington, he helped is dad with much of the farm work. He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1955 and worked at various jobs before starting at Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington. He retired after 43 years as a product tester in the early 2000’s.
On August 22, 1959 Norbert married Nancy Plier, the love of his life, at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Together they shared and treasured 64 years of life. During those years they lived in the City of Port Washington, Town of Port Washington and most recently in the Village of Belgium. Early in their marriage Norbert was called away to serve on active duty in the Wisconsin National Guard during the Berlin Crisis.
Norbert enjoyed the outdoors and travelling. With his wife Nancy they volunteered at many State Parks. He was proud to tell people that he had been to 48 of the 50 states and north of the Arctic Circle. After his retirement, they wintered in various southern states before settling on the perfect spot in Florida.
Throughout his life Norbert met many people that quickly became lifelong friends. Over the years his family and friends have been of great support and comfort to him.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy and his children Catherine A. Ansay of Milwaukee, Michael J. (Linda) Ansay of Sheboygan Falls and William R. (Sherri) Ansay of the Town of Port Washington, and by his grandchildren Matthew (Briana), Andrew, Monique, Rachel and Makayla. He is further survived by his sister Janice Becker of the Town of Port Washington, brother John Ansay of Campbellsport, brothers-in-law Franklin “Joe” (Kathy) Plier and Sylvester “Butch” (Lynn) Plier, both of Port Washington, sister-in-law Effie Plier of Fond du Lac, WI, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Daniel Ansay, sister-in-law Winnie Ansay, brothers-in-law Richard Becker, Merlin Plier and Donald and his wife Adrian Plier.
Fr. Steve Lampe will celebrate a Memorial Mass 6 pm Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Divine Savior Church Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Road B, Belgium (Holy Cross), WI. Visitation will be held 4-6pm Tuesday AT CHURCH prior to the Mass. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.
In lieu of flowers, any memorials will be shared with charities close to the family’s hearts.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wilfong and all the wonderful caregivers over the years for their compassionate care of Norbert.

Norbie and I spent many hours together, in our growing up years. We had some wonderful times playing at our homes. We payed many games together and I have many memories of those days.

Bob and I remember Norbert well, he and I were in the High School Class of 1955. He was a very nice man always friendly and very intelligent.
Bob remembers him from the days they both lived on farms and worked together at times.
