Emilie Zankl, 91, of Highway KK, Town of Port Washington died Friday, October 13, 2006 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, Wisconsin.
She was born October 23, 1914 in Germany to Franz and Barbara Baumeister Hensel. When she was 13 she immigrated with her brother to join other brothers and sisters already in the United States. She met married Joseph Zankl, Sr. of Munich, Germany in Cedarburg, Wisconsin on May 11, 1935.
Emilie worked at the former Badger Raincoat in Port Washington early after her marriage. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake. She liked being in the kitchen and worked at the former Betty’s Lunch in Saukville during the 1950’s and 1960’s.
She is survived by her sons Joseph Zankl and Fred (Kathy) Zankl both of the town of Port Washington. Further survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was the last of seven children, preceded in death by her brothers Karl and Frank Hensel, and sisters Francesca Hensel, Barbara Schnitzer, Elizabeth Bscherer and Elsa Gaertner.
Reverend Allan Sommer will officiate funeral services 7 pm Monday, October 16, 2006 at the funeral home. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation 4 – 7 pm Monday at the funeral home with a 4 pm Rosary. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association appreciated.
