WenningerMaryKMary K. Wenninger, 69, of South Milwaukee Street, Fredonia passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at her residence after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 24, 1941, daughter of William J. and Rose Woulf Hanrahan in Milwaukee.  At a young age she was working at the former St. Michael Hospital, Milwaukee.  She graduated from Messmer High School, moved to Fredonia in 1966 and raised her family.

Over the years she was always involved and always helping.  Her children and grandchildren were ever so important to her.  When the children were small she delivered newspapers, worked odd jobs for local businesses; even security guard for a few years.  In her later years she was a caregiver for Lutheran Social Services, meals on wheels driver and a home health care provider.  She will be remembered for the many wedding cakes she made, her 16 years of dedicated service to the Northern Ozaukee Ambulance Service as an emergency medical technician and contributions to her church.  She had taught CRE and coordinated funeral meals for many years, amongst others. She also was a 4-H youth leader sharing her creative skills in cake decorating, macrame and other projects.

She is survived by her children Terese Wenninger of Corona Del Mar, California, Chris (John) Witters of Random Lake, Lynn (Randy) Merkes of Fond du Lac and Cathy (Dean) Smith of Sheboygan; grandchildren Shane and Chad Cassidy, Joshua, Brittany and Lizzie Witters, Brian Merkes, Jacob, Sara and Jared Smith; great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Witters; her sister Annette Vertz of Waukesha; brothers Patrick (Anna Mae) Hanrahan of West Alllis, WI and William (Barbara) Hanrahan of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law Arlene Hanrahan of Cedarburg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her brother Daniel Hanrahan.

Her memorial funeral mass will be celebrated at 11AM Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Holy Rosary Parish-St. Rose Chapel, 315 Fredonia Avenue, Fredonia.  Reverend Richard Fleischman will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 9-11AM Saturday AT CHURCH before mass.  Memorials appreciated
