Laura C. Walsh, age 97, of Port Washington, WI died Friday, October 11, 2019 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, Wisconsin.

She was born in Port Washington, WI on March 12, 1922; daughter of Peter and Anna Dahm Roelse.

A lifelong resident, Laura married Frank E. “Hugo” Walsh on June 28, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. Together, she and he husband lived on North Lakeview Avenue in Port Washington for many years. In 2006, Laura moved to the Harbor Village where she enjoyed many friendships. She had been an LPN in that building when it was St. Alphonsus Hospital for almost 20 years. She had been a clerk at the former A&P grocery store downtown on Franklin Street and later Sentry Foods in the deli for almost 25 years, retiring in 1986.

Hugo preceded her in death on June 29, 1981.

Laura lived a life of faith to help others; she was hard working and dedicated. Over the years she enjoyed daily walks, knitting and crocheting. A game of Bingo or time spent playing the slot machines with friends were fun.

She is survived by her step-son Dr. Eugene (the late Jeanette) Walsh of Madison, nephew Clyde “Butch” Penkwitz of Peru, IN, great-nephew William McCarthy of Pewaukee, other relatives and friends.

Laura is further preceded by her sisters Viola Penkwitz, Alice Roelse and infant Loretta Roelse, step-son Dr. LeRoy Walsh and his wife Mary Ann and niece Arleen Moore.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 Noon Saturday, October 19, 2019 at St. John XXIII Parish-St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1802 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI. Reverend Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 10-12Noon AT CHURCH prior to Mass. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington, WI.
