Schuknecht, Gerald W. “Jerry”

Gerald W. “Jerry” Schuknecht, age 69, of Port Washington, Wisconsin passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon due to complications of Covid-19.

He was born on November 20, 1952 in Port Washington; son of William and Virginia “Jinny” Schultz Schuknecht.  Jerry graduated from Port Washington High School, class of 1971 and joined the United States Coast Guard.  After serving for 8 years, mainly out of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Jerry returned to this area.  He attended Milwaukee Area Technical College and worked as a tool and die maker in Milwaukee.  As his parents aged, Jerry helped out and became his father’s primary care giver.

Jerry was a man of faith, attending Mass regularly.  At St. John XXIII Parish, Jerry was a member of the Pastoral Council, the Stewardship Commission and the St. John XXIII School Advisory Commission.  In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed woodworking and creating stained glass projects.

He is survived by his sister Carol (James “Novi”) Novshek of Port Washington; brother-in-law Loren Kaye of Adams; niece Carissa (Nick) Biesenthal, nephews Justin and Ian Novshek; great-nieces Niamh, Anna and Maya; dear friend Vanessa Schwengel, aunt Elnor Hecimovich of Madison, other relatives and friends.  Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Janet Schuknecht and Judy Kaye and his brother David Schuknecht .

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. John XXIII Parish-St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI.  The Reverend Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant.  Family will receive relatives and friends after 11AM until time of Mass.  Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington with military honors.
