Joyce Richards, 66, of Highway KK in the Town of Port Washington died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at her residence after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born August 11, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Robert and Maime Sorenson Ladwig.  She married Clell “Cheyenne” Richards of Palestine, Texas on August 16, 1964 in Galena, Illinois.  Together they built their home on Highway KK.  He preceded her in death January 5, 2003.

Joyce was a loyal and dedicated postal worker and union representative for over 30 yrs.  She was postal clerk for the Port Washington Post Office, retired 1999; past-president of the Port Washington Postal Workers Union over 25 yrs; long standing member of the American Postal Workers Union, past Secretary/Treasurer of the American Postal Workers Union of Wisconsin and President from 1992-2000.  She was a member of the American Postal Workers Union Auxiliary over 15 yrs and served on numerous national committees.

She is dear mums of Robert Richards of Franklin, Wisconsin, Gregory Richards of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Debra Richards of St. Francis, Wisconsin and the late Scott Richards.  Further survived by sisters Kathy (Barry “Bud”) Jankiewicz of Jefferson, Colorado and Barbara (Mike) Wargolet of Caledonia, Wisconsin, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Family services were held with interment in Union Cemetery, Port Washington.   Memorials to The American Lung Association or  COPA appreciated.
