OttAlice IAlice I. Ott, 86, formerly of Highway A, Town of Belgium died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Harbor Club in Port Washington.

She was born April 28, 1921 in the town of Port Washington to Charles and Clara Mayer Karrels.  As a young woman she helped on the family farm in the town of Belgium and also worked at the Allen Edmonds Shoe Factory for three and a half years.  She married Joseph P. Ott of the town of Belgium at St. Mary’s Church, Lake Church on November 6, 1943.  They just celebrated 64 years of marriage.  They moved to the Harbor Club in Port Washington two years ago.  She was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Christian Mothers.

Alice always kept busy, aside from raising a family and helping her husband on the farm, she cooked, baked, tended a vegetable garden and spent her time with family teaching and sharing her wisdom.  She was an ardent quilter and belonged to the Kettle Moraine Quilters Club in West Bend.  Over the years she made many quilts for many occasions.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of  Port Washington, and children Dennis (Tina) Ott of Fredonia, WI, Carol (Dick) Schatzer of Antigo, WI,  and Joe (Clare) Ott of the Town of Belgium.  Further survived by 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters Mary Jane Stern, Pearl Lauters of Port Washington and Clara Jean (Daniel) Baertlein of Williams, AZ, brothers Cyril Karrels of the town of Port Washington, Robert (Nina) Karrels, Daniel (Ellen) Karrels both of Milwaukee and Allen (Kay) Karrels of Saukville, daughter-in-law Victoria Ott of the town of Belgium,  other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by her son Charles Ott, brother Rollin Karrels, sisters-in-law Ann Karrels and Margie Karrels and brothers-in-law Lawrence Stern and Melvin Lauters.

Rev. James Ernster will celebrate a memorial Mass 7 pm Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Holy Rosary Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, Holy Cross.  Interment parish cemetery.  Visitation 4 – 7 pm Tuesday at church.   Memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or choice appreciated.
