KarrelsAnnMarieAnn Marie Karrels, 84, of W4910 County Road H, Fredonia (Town of Port Washington), died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at her home.

She was born on November 28, 1920, daughter of Peter and Veronica (Bartkus) Valukas in Racine.  As a young girl her family farmed in Adell.    She met Cyril P. Karrels of the Town of Port Washington, they were married June 3, 1944 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Adell, Wisconsin.

Since their marriage she has been side by side with her husband on the family farm. A farmer’s wife raising the family while tending to the many responsibilities of the farm.  They spent long hours tending their garden in the later years.   She shared a great love of the land and God’s animals. She was always very friendly yet quiet and humorous.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Cyril; daughter Kathy (Ron) Swihart of Lake Church and Mary Ann Jackson of Fillmore, WI, sons Robert (Mary Ann) Karrels of the town of Belgium and John (Liz) Karrels of Fredonia, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brothers Peter (Emma) Valukas of Howards Grove and Frank Valukas of Milwaukee, brother-in-law Leonard Kahler of Sheboygan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her sister Lucille Kahler and brother Joseph Valukas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7PM Friday, January 21 at Holy Rosary Parish-St. Rose Chapel, Fredonia.  The Reverend Richard Fleischman and Rev. James Ernster will be the celebrants.  Interment will take place at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Fredonia.  Visitation will be from 4-6:45PM Friday AT CHURCH.  Memorials of choice appreciated.
