Shirley M. Kampmann, 80, formerly of N. Powers Street in Port Washington, Wisconsin died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington where she had resided the past few years.
She was born September 23, 1931 in Belgium, Wisconsin to Nicholas and Mary Binsfeld Plier. She married Gilbert E. Kampmann of Adell, Wisconsin on May 10, 1952. They lived on N. Powers Street in Port Washington for many years. She worked as a nurses aide at the former St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington and later for Mequon Care Center in the late 1970’s. Her husband Gilbert preceded her in death March 14, 1977.
Shirley will be remembered for being active in St. Mary’s Christian Mothers, the Brownies and St. Mary’s School Library for many years. She enjoyed knitting, reading and solving word search puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter Mary (Jay) Freward of Port Washington, other relatives and friends. Her husband Gilbert and brother Harvey Plier preceded her in death.
Reverend Thomas Lijewski will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial 6 pm Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N Wisconsin Street, Port Washington. Interment parish cemetery. Visitation 4 – 6 pm Tuesday at church with a 4 pm rosary service.
