LeRoy P. Johnson, age 84, of South High Street, Port Washington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at his home.
He was born on June 3, 1935 in Sheboygan, WI; son of Harry and Laura Schmit Johnson. He spent his life living on High Street, originally with his parents and then continuing after they passed away. LeRoy became ill as a child and was not able to attend school or work. He was a quiet gentle man who appreciated his friendly neighbors over the years. LeRoy was an independent soul with his canine pal Frank.
Quite often LeRoy could be found outdoors gardening or working in his yard. He regularly shoveled snow for the neighbors. His hobbies included painting and model trains. Over the years, numerous works were blue ribbon winners at the Ozaukee County Fair. LeRoy was active at the Port Washington Community Senior Center at their lunch program and their many activities.
He is survived by his brother Harold (Geraldine) Johnson of Port Washington; his niece Laurie (Breck) McHenry, nephews Jay (Jan) and Joel (Debra) Johnson, other relatives and friends. LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the POOLE FUNERAL HOME/Crematory, 203 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI. Pastor Brandon Lemons will officiate. Family will receive friends from 10-11AM Saturday AT THE FUNERAL HOME prior to services. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Port Washington, WI.
