GoebelLindaLinda Lee Goebel, age 63, lovingly referred to as “Momma Linda” by many, peacefully passed away with the support and abundant love of her family at her town of Port Washington home on April 20, 2013 after a battle with cancer.

She was born on January 31, 1950, daughter of John D. and Arleen Bostwick Torke in Madison, Wisconsin.  She grew up on the family farm in Belgium near Lake Church, attending St. Mary’s Catholic School.  She graduated from Ozaukee High School and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  She married Scott Stefaniak and had two children, Reed and Mickie.  After that marriage ended, she met the love of her life and on December 10, 1977, Linda married Robert A. “Bob” Goebel at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington.  Accepting and embracing their respective children from previous marriages, and with the birth of three more, their family became complete.

Momma Linda was a kind and loving woman with an open heart and an open door.  She raised her family while providing care for others as well.  For nine years she was also a nurse’s aide at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington.  She devoted her life to the care of others at all ages.  The door of the Goebel home was open to all in times of need and joy.

Linda is survived by her husband Bob, her eight children: Michael (Cindy) Goebel of Port Washington, Richard Goebel of Port Washington, Reed (Joey) Goebel of Port Washington, Anmarie (Jeff) Markoff of Grafton, Mickie (Craig) Jaeger of Saukville, Ellen (David) Otter of West Bend, Bryant (Lauren) Goebel of Madison and Marcia Goebel of West Bend.  She is further survived by nine grandchildren: Hayden, Marcus, Kyle, Jason, Caspian, Ella, Hailey, Abe and Luke, her father John Torke of Port Washington, her sister Wendy (Ike) Schwab of Random Lake, her two brothers Michael (Mary) Torke of Howards Grove and Gary (Colleen) Torke of Grafton, nieces, nephews, and all of the abundant children of her heart, to whom she devoted the whole of her life.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday April 27, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 430 N Johnson Street, Port Washington.  The Reverend Thomas Lijewski will be the celebrant.  Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Friday, April 26 AT CHURCH and also 9 AM Saturday before mass.  A rosary will be said at 4PM Friday AT CHURCH.   Memorials to the Port Washington Food Pantry (1800 N Wisconsin Street – Port Washington, WI 53074) are appreciated.
