Gantner, Clara

GantnerClaraClara S. Gantner, 97 of N Benjamin Street died at her residence September 24, 2008.

She was born November 21, 1910 in Grafton, Wisconsin to Louis and Elizabeth Musbach Norman.  Her father was a blacksmith in Grafton and also had a farm where she helped out.  As a teenager she cleaned houses in Milwaukee.  Later she worked as a seamstress for the former Badger Raincoat Company in Port Washington.  She married Walter J. Gantner of the Town of Belgium on June 20, 1931 in St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington.

They enjoyed going to dances in Sheboygan on Saturday night and traveling.  Walter preceded her in death July 13, 1991.  Clara was active with the American Legion Post 82 Auxiliary.  She enjoyed reading and gardening, particularily flowers and raspberries.  She was a strong and independent woman, still living in her home.

She is survived by her son Terry (Nancy) Gantner of West Bend, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded by her husband Walter, sisters Hilda Ziege, Marcella Husting and Tillie Boettcher and brothers John Norman and George Norman.

Rev. Patrick Wendt will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.  Entombment parish cemetery.  Visitation 10:30 am to 12 Noon Wednesday at church with a 10:30 am Rosary service.
