GabrichMildredMildred F. Gabrich, 79, of Harbor Village in Port Washington died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 23, 1926 to William and Frances Steapenak Greinert.  She met George H. Gabrich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 21, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  They raised a family on Tower Drive.  Upon George’s retirement they moved to Rhinelander.  In August 2005 they moved back to Port Washington.  George preceded her in death on October 9, 2005.

Through the years Mildred enjoyed various hobbies including cake decorating, hat making, ceramics, knitting and crocheting.  She made many afghans for family and friends.  She also worked as a matron at the Ozaukee County Jail and later at Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington.

She is survived by her daughter Christine (the late Eugene “Dutch”) Schulz of Port Washington, sons Phillip Gabrich of Port Washington, Scott (Patricia) Gabrich of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Thomas (Mary) Gabrich of Sheboygan, John (Nancy) Gabrich, Leo Gabrich of Port Washington and WIlliam (Mary) Gabrich of Fredonia.  He was the proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Further survived by  a sister Marion (Robert) Slicker of Florida, other relatives and friends.

Fr. Pat Wendt will celebrate a Memorial Funeral Mass 3pm Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.    Family will receive friends from 1 – 3pm Tuesday at the church.  Memorials appreciated.
