GabrichGeorgeGeorge H. Gabrich, 80, of Harbor Village in Port Washington died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg.

He was born August 27, 1925, the only child of Leo and Frieda Christiansen Gabrich in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Before the war he worked for National Cash Register in Milwaukee.  He was in the Army Air Corp. during World War Two.  When he returned from the war he married Mildred Grienert of Chicago, Illinois on September 21, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He began working as a truck driver for the Milwaukee Railroad and moved to 119 Tower Drive in Port Washington.  He was a member of the Teamsters Local 200 in Milwaukee and retired in 1987.   Being with the railroad all those years he enjoyed model trains and layouts.  George enjoyed hunting and upon his retirement moved to Rhinelander were he hunted until he was 75.  He also helped local veterans by taking them to the Veterans Hospital in Tomah, Wisconsin.   In 2005 they returned to Port Washington.

He is survived by his wife Mildred, daughter Christine (the late Eugene “Dutch”) Schulz of Port Washington, sons Phillip Gabrich of Port Washington, Scott (Patricia) Gabrich of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Thomas (Mary) Gabrich of Sheboygan, John (Nancy) Gabrich, Leo Gabrich of Port Washington and WIlliam (Mary) Gabrich of Fredonia.  He was the proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Fr. Pat Wendt will celebrate a Memorial Funeral Mass 2 pm Saturday, October 15, 2005 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.    Family will recieve friends from Noon to 2 pm Saturday at the church.  Memorials appreciated.
