ConradtDouglasDouglas R. Conradt, age 63, of Port Washington died peacefully Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Harbor Club in Port Washington after a lengthy battle.

He was born on August 1, 1951 in Green Bay, WI; son of Gordon “Bob” and Marion Griffiths Conradt. As a young boy, the family moved to Mequon. Doug graduated from Homestead High School in Mequon.

On May 13, 1972, Doug married Karen Rilling of Port Washington at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. For over 30 years, Doug worked for A.O.Smith Company in Milwaukee, retiring in 2000. Over the next few years Doug continued to work until his health declined.

Doug loved his six daughters and the grandkids. His baby was his red Camero, however. He loved showing it off at the local car club or just driving around. Doug also became a proud woodworker. He crafted the family’s dining room tables, chairs and end tables. He made rocking chairs and entertainment centers. He made the crown moldings and with his wife, installed hardwood floors throughout their home.

He is survived by his wife Karen, his six daughters Niki (Scott) Nelson of Port Washington, Dani (Scott) Peiffer of Port Washington, Joei (Dave) Ott of Dunlap, IL, Andi (Brian) Barber of Port Washington, Kasi (Jeff) Schroeder of Port Washington and Jesi (Jared Brammer) Conradt of Port Washington; his father Gordon “Bob” (the late Marion) Conradt of Mequon; his sisters Connie (the late Vern) Gierach of Cedarburg and Jayne (Wayne) Bernhardt of Grafton; his brothers Jack Conradt of Mequon and Jeff (Kathy) Conradt of Oostburg; his 17 grandchildren Brynn, Drue and Violet Nelson, Blake, Taylor and Brooke Peiffer, Annika, Sam, Charlie, Aubrey and William Ott, Chase, Chloe, Georgia and Dylan Barber, Ryann and Wesley Schroeder; his mother-in-law Marilyn (the late Perch) Rilling of Port Washington; his sisters-in-law Diane (Don Schultz) Rilling of Oregon, WI and Suzanne (Christian Koch) Rilling of Wilmington, NC; his brother-in-law Jim (Gloria) Rilling of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further preceded in death by his brother-in-law Tom Rilling.

Memorial services will be held at 7 pm Monday, Sept 22, 2014 at the Poole Funeral Home, 203 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI. Reverend Jeff Suddendorf, pastor of First Congregational Church in Port Washington will officiate. Family will receive friends 4-7 pm Monday prior to the service. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.  Memorials to the charity of choice appreciated.
