Michael Buchholz of Whitefish Bay, WI died January 12, 2021 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents Rudy and Marge Buchholz. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Alexandra; his sons Peter (Jean Wesley) Buchholz and Matthew (Abigail) Buchholz; three granddaughters; his sisters Sue (Rick) Trester and Carol (Andy) Walsh; many nieces, nephews and countless other family members and dear friends.
He was a wonderful husband, proud father, devoted employee, avid golfer and all around good guy. He was an voracious reader of the Wall Street Journal and other publications and often took the time to send just the right article to people to share interesting items he had come across. He loved sitting down with a map and sharing information about places he had traveled to or planned to travel to in the future.
Mike graduated with his Master’s in business from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and was a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, he was in the U.S. Army and spent time stationed in Germany. He joined Northwestern Mutual and had a fulfilling lifelong career with the company specializing in commercial real estate investments. His work took the family from Wisconsin to Houston for many years. The company then brought him back to the Milwaukee area where he was a resident of Whitefish Bay for nearly 25 years.
Next to his family, golf was Mike’s biggest love. After retirement, he golfed weekly with the Northwestern Mutual retiree golf league which regularly brought him to different golf courses all around the area. He achieved the elusive golfer’s dream in 2019 when he scored a hole in one.
His dry sense of humor, kind heart, silly drawings and funny observations will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11am Sat., Sept. 18, 2021 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 5681 N Santa Monica Blvd, Whitefish Bay, WI. Visitation 10-11 am Sat. AT CHURCH prior to the Mass. Military honors will be conducted after the Mass.
