Douglas “Buzz” Bostwick, age 76, of Port Washington, Wisconsin passed away Monday July 18, 2022 at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 17, 1946 in Port Washington to Lyall and Leona Dolata Bostwick.

Doug attended St. Mary’s parochial school and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1964.  He then attended the former Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee graduating with a degree in Accounting.

Doug started his career with the F.W. Woolworth Corporation but immediately began service in the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971.  He started and ended his work life with the City of Port Washington, working summers cutting grass in the 1960s and staffing the City Street Yard in his retirement.

On October 19, 1974, Doug married Susan L. Wellnitz of Milwaukee.  Always devoted to his hometown, Doug and Sue started their family in Port Washington, raising their girls here. Doug was a proud and loving husband, dad and grandpa.  He was devoted to his family, near and far, always willing to lend a helping hand with home improvement and yard projects. Doug enjoyed gardening the most; growing bountiful tomatoes, kohlrabi and asparagus.  He was also an avid sports fan always cheering on his favorite WI teams, from high school up to the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Doug played in several bowling and golf leagues over the years.  He was a consummate “Team Dad,” cheering for and coaching his kids, grandkids and extended family in sports.  With his daughters out west and grandkids in Las Vegas, he regularly traveled to take in sports.

Doug is survived by his wife Sue, his daughters Stephanie Bostwick and Stacey (Brad Apelgren) Bostwick, both of Las Vegas, three grandchildren Wyatt, Nolan and Everleigh, his brothers Mark (MaryKay) Bostwick of Port Washington and Craig Bostwick of Deerfield, WI, his uncle John Torke of Port Washington, Sue’s siblings, Art (Val) Wellnitz, Bill (Linda) Wellnitz, Cristine (Bill) Thielmann, Brian (Carla) Wellnitz, Fred (Janet) Wellnitz, Mark (Bonnie) Wellnitz and Don (Ann) Wellnitz, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Sue’s parents and his canine pal Suki.
