Betty M. Betz, 79, of West Washington Street, Port Washington died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at her residence.

She was born February 19, 1928 in Silver Creek, Wisconsin to William and Thuska Kraitch Gruenewald.  She grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Cedarburg High School.  As a young woman she traveled throughout the West Coast waitressing at various tourist areas, eventually returning to Ozaukee County and waitressing at the former Grafton Hotel.  She married James A. “Tiny” Betz of Port Washington on June 30, 1956 at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington.  He preceded her in death March 22, 2001.  She enjoyed her home, family, reading, puzzles and her cats.

She is survived by her daughter Leslie Trad of Port Washington and son Jim (Karla) Betz of Floral Arkansas.  Further survived by grandchildren Susan, Donna and Nicholas Betz, sisters Roma Horn of Phoenix, Arizona and Janet Hensel of Germantown, orther relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Ruth Beck, Dorothy Cassidy and Lois Swatek.

The Reverend James Ernster will officiate memorial services 7 pm Monday, January 21, 2008 at the funeral home.  Visitation from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home.  Cremation with final interment in St. Paul’s UCC Cemetery, Silver Creek, Wisconsin.  Memorials to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital appreciated
