Salvatore Amato, 77, of Sunset Road in Port Washington died at his residence December 31, 2009.
He was born August 4, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Rose Cosentino Amato. After graduating from DePaul University in Chicago he began work at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago as an office manager. A promotion took him to the Milwaukee Federal Reserve Bank, where he worked for 34 years. He moved to Port Washington and loved the small town atmosphere.
In 1985 after his retirement from the Federal Reserve Bank, Uncle Sammy, as he was known to many, Became the manager the Manager at the Sunset Road Apartments for next 16 years. He gave freely of his time, talents and treasures and was a friendly guy that many cared for.
He is survived by his son Salvatore (Mary) Amato of Tinley Park, Illinois and grandchildren Dominic, Peter and Ashley Amato. Futher survived by brother Frank (Cathy) Amato, sister-in-law Jean Amato, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Mass will be held in Tinley Park, Illinois at a later date.
