Marion Torbeck, age 85, formerly of Port Washington, WI and Lasata Crossings in Cedarburg, peacefully passed away at the Lawliss Family Hospice in Mequon.

Born on March 20, 1930, Marion lived most of her life in Milwaukee. Going to work at an early age to help the family, she lived a life of support and giving to others.

On June 19, 1948, Marion married John C. “Jack” Torbeck of Milwaukee in Milwaukee. For many years they operated the Torbeck Restaurant. Later she would waitress at John’s Sandwich Shop in Wauwatosa. She also was a crossing guard on Appleton Avenue.

Upon her and her husband’s retirement, they moved to Port Washington. There she was the westside crossing guard in the late 1990’s. Her husband Jack preceded her in death on March 16, 2013.

She will be remembered for her openness and warmth to others. She provided care to her husband after his stroke and was friendly and supportive to fellow residents of Lasata Crossings.

Marion is survived by her daughter Patty (Dan) Gilbert of Grafton; her grandchildren John, Bill and Gregg Jr.; great-grandchildren Ashlee and Austin, her sister Diane (Tom) Pettit of Richfield, daughter-in-law Kathy Torbeck of Eau Claire, dear partner of her late son Daniel, Denise Knoten of Oconomowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, sons Daniel and Gregg Torbeck and grandson Tony.

Memorial Services will be held at 5PM Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 166 W. Dekora, Saukville, WI 53080. Reverend Brian Damrow will officiate. Family will receive friends from 3-5PM Friday prior to service AT CHURCH. Memorials to the church are appreciated.
