Mary L. Sommer, age 62, of the town of Fredonia, WI, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

She was born on August 5, 1956 in Milwaukee, WI; daughter of John J. and Audrey Oelke Blake. Mary graduated from Juneau High School, later taking a job at the local Sears store. While working at the former Pfister-Vogel Tannery, where her father was working, Mary met Ronald Sommer from Mequon. They married on September 18, 1976 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Thiensville. For a few years, the Sommers lived in Mequon and Cedarburg. During this time they started a family and Mary worked at Lasata Care Center as a CNA.

In 1992, the family moved to Fredonia. Mary would work at Guy and O’’Neill and the Village Market in Fredonia. She would also help and organize funeral luncheons at St. Rose parish in Fredonia.

Mary was a proud mom and grandma for her kids, as well as others. Selfless, caring and loving; Mary always put others first.

She is survived by her husband Ron, children James Sommer of Fredonia, Jason (Amanda) Sommer of Allenton, Sara Nelson of Fredonia and Ashley (Foster) Braddy of Saukville, 5 grandchildren Hannah, Blake, Lili, Emily and Eliza; her brothers John (Kathy) Blake of Dousman and Arthur (Susan) Blake of Holland, MI; her sisters Joyce (Ken) Schmitz of Manitowoc and Lois (Robert) Ross of Magnolia, AR, her niece Cortnie and nephew Justin, dear family friend Sam Cardarelle, other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

By her wishes, no funeral services held. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or charity of givers choice appreciated.

    We were very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. All of us at Lifestar only knew her for a short time during her transports back and forth to Dialysis. We would always try and put a smile on her face each time. May God Bless her family and friends at this difficult time.
