Speedy Ray Shepherd, 48,  of Port Washington died November 12, 2003 in Mallie Kentucky.  He was born February 19, 1955 to Ray and Elenora Templeman Shepherd in Port Washington.

Speedy Ray was a big and burly mountain man who liked to pretend to the officers that he was a dangerous man, when he was a sweet and gentle man who loved children.  He was a Golden Gloves Boxer who loved to play Santa Claus at family Christmas parties.  He also loved to sing country music songs with his strong baritone voice.  Most of all Speedy always enjoyed being the mountain man from Cotton Top, Kentucky.  His place will always be on the mountain he loved with all his soul.  He was a colorful character loved by many and will be missed.
