SchmitzNormaANorma A. Schmitz, 80, of Allen Street, Random Lake, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital-Ozaukee Campus in Mequon.

She was born in Belgium, WI on November 30, 1930 to Peter and Rose Schueller Tackes. She grew up on the family farm, graduated from Port Washington High School and worked as a secretary at the Ozaukee County Courthouse.  On July 12, 1952 she married Francis P. “Cisco” Schmitz of the Town of Fredonia at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada.  He preceded her in death on May 3, 2009.

As their family grew, they made their home in Random Lake, moving there in the late 1950’s.   Her husband operated Schmitz Construction and Norma was the bookkeeper.  Her dedication to family and attention to detail did not stop when the children were grown as she continued to share of herself throughout the years.  She had been involved with St. Mary Catholic School and Random Lake High School lunch program and Phillip Sales of Belgium.  She shared her passion of reading with many at the Lakeview Library of Random Lake.  She enjoyed playing Scrabble, puzzles, crocheting and embroidery.  Many received handmade gifts given with love.

She is survived by her children C.J. Schmitz of Milwaukee, Frank (Terri) Schmitz of White Bird, ID, Ann (Dan) Wilson of Slinger, Jeffrey (Tammy) Schmitz of Random Lake, LaVonne (Ron) Ellenbecker of Slinger and Timothy (Karen) Schmitz of Random Lake; fourteen grandchildren Angela, Sara, Melissa, Kurt, Eric, Mark, Dustin, Jeremy, Kyle, Amanda, Jessica, Michael, Nathan and Tyler; seven great-grandchildren Ethan, Trey, Samantha, Kyndall, Melanie, Haley and Kayden; her sister Patricia (William) Burris of Belgium; other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband, son Michael and her beloved canine Katie just two weeks ago.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Mary Chapel, 230 Butler Street, Random Lake.  Reverend Richard Cerpich will be the celebrant.  Interment in St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Dacada.  Visitation will be from 9-11AM Saturday AT CHURCH.  Memorials to Lakeview Library, 112 Butler Street, Random Lake, WI 53075 appreciated.
