Roller, Viola

Viola M. Roller, 94, of W. Larabee Street in Port Washington, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington from complications due to a stroke.

She was born September 9, 1915 in Port Washington, the only child of Harry and Catherine Besch Wester.  She married Leroy “Butch” Roller of Port Washington on October 16, 1937 at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington.  In 1951 they built their home on W. Larabee Street.  Through the years she worked in various Port Washington businesses.  She was a seamstress for the former Badger Outerwear, a clerk at the former women’s apparel shop, the Smart Shop, waitressed at the former Smith Bros. Restaurant and also was a clerk at the former Leider’s Drug Store.

Viola was a seamstress for many relatives and friends, making alterations and beautiful quilts, she also enjoyed knitting and crochetting.  She loved to shop and entertain, hosting costume parties and playing cards.  She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and travelling throughout the United States and Europe with her husband.  She was a member of the former Holy Name Societry, Daughters of Isabella, St Mary’s Church and their Christian Women.  Her husband Leroy preceded her in death June 15, 2005.

She is survived by her children Don Roller of Port Washington and Shirley (Andrew) Lee of Belmont, California and grandchildren Erik Lee, Brannon Lee, Jordan Lee and Adam (Joanne) Lee.  Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Rev. Tom Lijewski will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial 6:30 pm Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church, 430 Johnson Street, Port Washington.  Interment parish cemetery.  Visitation 4 – 6:30 pm Tuesday AT CHRUCH with a rosary at 4 pm.  Memorials to St. Mary’s Parish or charity of choice appreciated.
