Albert P. Pujanauski, 87, died surrounded by family September 19, 2006 at his N Milwaukee Street residence.
He was born May 19, 1919 to Frank and Anna Marie Kirzgalvis in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. When he was three the family moved to Port Washington after his fathers death. He worked for Harnischfeger Homes in Port Washington and then entered the US Army and served in World War Two. He was a staff sergeant in D Company, 28th Infantry from 1941 to 1945 and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. After the war he met and married Helen Bichler of Port Washington on October 1, 1949 at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington. He began working at Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington, retiring in 1986. He was Head Night Custodian at the Ozaukee County Courthouse for many years and worked with his brother “Puch” painting and wallpapering throughout the area. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1430 and St. Mary’s Church.
Albert was a proud long-time Cubs fan. He had a wonderful garden and was proud to be on the 2006 Garden Walk with showcasing a variety of flowers and vegetables. He enjoyed woodworking, making furnture and many other projects, his birds in the yard. He was hardworking and helpful and proud to still be driving at his age.
He is survived by his children Mary Ruth Pujanauski of Port Washington, Karen (Mark) Krist of Barneveld, Wisconsin, John Pujanauski of Port Washington, Phil Pujanauski of Random Lake, Dave Pujanauski of Port Washington, Tom (Catherine) Pujanauski of Town of Port Washington, William Pujanauski of Belgium and the late George (Sue) Pujanauski of Town of Saukville. Further survived by 8 grandchildren, brothers George (Doris) Franks of Port Washington and Harry (Pat) Franks of Anchorage, Alaska, sister Eleanor Franks of Milwaukee, dear friend Billie Liesegang of Port Washington, sister-in-laws Marion Pujanauski, Joan (Ward) Braby and Mary Ann (DuWayne) Peterson, other relatives and friends. Preceded by his wife Helen, son George, infant sister Ruth Franks and brother Frank “Puch” Pujanauski.
Funeral services 7 pm from the funeral home to St. Mary’s Church for Mass at 7 pm. Interment parish cemetery with military rites by the Belgium Memorial Post 5373 VFW. Visitation 4 – 7 pm at the funeral home with a 4 pm rosary. Memorials appreciated.
