PierreGertrudeGertrude M. Pierre, 96, of Bur Oak Lane in Grafton, formerly of Fredonia, died at Horizon Hospice, Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital-Ozaukee in Mequon on September 19, 2012 after recent complications of ill health.

She was born September 1, 1916 in the Town of Saukville to John and Mary Klos Weyker.  She married Ambrose N. Pierre of Fredonia on September 12, 1936 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross, town of Belgium.  They lived in Fredonia for many years on Fredonia Avenue and then built on Lawrence Avenue in 1962.  Her husband preceded her in death August 25, 1996.  Gertrude has resided in Grafton for the last 9 years.

Gertrude worked at the former Fredonia Cannery and then for Kenro Corp. in Fredonia. A wonderful homemaker, she was also a member of St. Rose Church in Fredonia and active in its Ladies Sodality.  Supportive and nurturing to family and friends, she enjoyed travel to Arizona to see her son, winter in Florida and even toured Alaska.  She also enjoyed gardening, playing  sheepshead, pinochle and going on casino runs.

She is survived by her children Vi (Jack) Bublitz of Grafton, Gene (Judy) Pierre of Cedarburg, Audrey (Jim) Andraski of Grafton and Thomas (Lynn) Pierre of Mesa, Arizona.  Further survived by 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded by her husband Ambrose, sisters Lorraine Reiland and Kathleen Reiland, brothers Peter, Julius, George and Edward Weyker, granddaughter Susan Pierre and great-granddaughter Cassandra Cardarella.

The Reverend Mike Barrett will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial 4 pm Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington Street, Grafton.  Visitation 2-4pm Monday AT CHURCH.  Interment St. Rose Cemetery, Fredonia.
