Frances A. Nohavica, 96, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at her Habor Cove, Port Washington Residence.

She was born in Barton, Ohio on April 6, 1913 to Matthew and Anna Masa Cenkus.  When she was 15 she moved to Chicago to find work.  She met Frank Nohavica of Chicago and on September 25, 1937 they were married.  In 1956 they moved to Beloit, Wisconsin and retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1977.  They returned to Cedarburg in 200 to be closer to their children.  Her husband Frank preceded her November 23, 2005 and in 2006 she moved to the Harbor Club in Port Washington.

Frances was a wonderful baker, making ethnic Czech recipes and cooking from scratch.  She was a great mom and devoted grandmother and enjoyed knitting, sewing and other fabric crafts.  She believed one should never stop learning, encouraging her children and grandchildren to keep learning and practicing that belief by learning to ride a bicycle at the age of 65.

She is survived by her children Ivan (Helga) Nohavica of Greenfield, Wisconsin and June (Bob) Byrne of Port Washington, Wisconsin.  Further survived by grandchildren Jan Nohavica, Ryan (Shawna) Byrne and Colin Byrne, other relatives and friends.  She was the oldest of seven and is precede by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Family will hold services at a later date in Illinois with interment to take place at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
