Lavern M. Leider, age 88, formerly of Fillmore Street, Fredonia, WI passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Gables on the Pond in Random Lake.

She was born on the family farm just south of Holy Cross in the town of Port Washington on February 18, 1929; daughter of Henry and Mary Schimberg Lauters, Jr.

On June 25, 1949, Lavern married a local Navy aviator named Gregory J. Leider of the town of Fredonia at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross, town of Belgium.

Greg and Lavern had operated an airport providing airplane services, charter flights and operated an instruction school near Fredonia. They later closed the airport in 1953.

Lavern was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a great baker and cook. Saturday mornings making bread or pies and canning food provide some great memories. She provided a loving home for her family well through to the great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Many have a quilt to remember her by.

She was a long-time member of St. Rose Parish in Fredonia, Christian Mothers Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was also active with the Boy Scouts when her children were young.

Lavern is survived her children Robert (Verna) Leider of Random Lake, Allan (Sandra) Leider of Plymouth, Linda (Dave) Baardseth of Galesville and Paul (the late Lorna) Leider of Sheboygan, foster son Richard (Clarice) Lehn of Newport Beach, CA; 11 grandchildren, 16+ great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Robert (the late Helen) Arendt of Shawano and sister-in-law Pearl (the late Melvin) Lauters of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death her husband Greg, her twin sons Dennis and Daniel, her brother Melvin Lauters, sisters-in-law Julia Eischen, Lucille Vanderloop, Carol Leider, Germaine Leider and Helen Arendt, brothers-in-law Ray Eischen, Bill Vanderloop, Alois (Al) Leider, Henry (Harry) Leider and son-in-law Dan Dean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6PM, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Divine Savior Parish – St. Rose Chapel, 305 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia. Reverend Todd Budde will be the celebrant. Interment St. Rose Cemetery in Fredonia. Family will receive relatives and friends from 4-6PM Thursday AT CHURCH.
